What is it about certain events or milestones that tie up in knots? Anticipation can be exciting or it can be a real downer.   The key appears to be our beliefs about the event, since we often have no way of knowing how they will turn out. There are certain birthdays that are charged with so much negative emotion that we create expectations around them that may never actually happen.   Interestingly, they may even imbue other events with negativity. How did you feel when you turned 29?  I remember that birthday as being one when I felt awful.   The crazy thing, of course, is that it’s not 29 that is invested with negative connotations – it’s 30.   That one I remember being a non-issue – probably because I spent all my negative emotions on 29 and the rest of that year.

I found myself thinking about how we anticipate and worry about the passage of time today.   It’s been a warm and sunny summer day, although it started noticeably cooler.   Is this the beginning of Fall?  It’s actually the “dog days of summer”, but you’d never know it from the “Back to School” sales and Fall collections in the stores. Cialis and ketoconazole

it makes sense that stores would begin early and try to get us to think ahead of the event, but must we?  worrying about how cool it will be in a few weeks has a way of getting in the way of enjoying the beautiful weather right now.

The same goes for worrying about age cialis and ketoconazole, interviews, meetings, almost anything. It’s not that we should not plan and prepare, but letting potential negative outcomes get [cialis and ketoconazole] in the way of enjoying the moment can have toxic and painful effects. Worry may even cause us to create negative outcomes that would otherwise not have occurred.

Preparing, for me is thinking about the positive as well as the negative outcomes.   Planning for success, particularly what we cialis and ketoconazole want to accomplish and how we can handle resistance to ideas or conflict may sound like worrying but it is not. The difference is being open to possibility, creating the outcomes we want, and identifying what we can do to make sure these happen.

Worrying ahead of something is presupposing the negative outcome will occur, regardless of its probability.   By worrying about it we focus on the negative outcome and letting fear win.   We, thus, create an environment that does not support succes.

So as the song says, “Don’t worry. Be happy!”

Was I particularly different at 29 than I was at 30 or, for that matter, 25?  Probably not!   But I certainly did not enjoy my birthday celebration that year.   At least I learned from 29, and 39 and 40 were much easier.   And 50 was a wonderful celebration that I enjoyed thoroughly.

What are you worrying about needlessly?
